In the history of graphic design, the film poster has repeatedly exemplified graphic innovation. The first constructivist posters by the Stenberg brothers challenged viewing habits in the late 1920s, as did the radical, succinct film advertisements by Jan Tschichold. The Polish school of poster art, with exponents such as Henryk Tomaszewski and Roman Cieslewicz, produced iconic film posters in the postwar era, and Cuban designers, including Antonio Reboiro and Ñiko, followed suit after 1959.

This reprint of the notebook Album Punjab Simla. Chandigarh, Mars 1951 kept by Le Corbusier from his two-week visit in the area that would become Chandigarh, the new capital city of the Indian state of Punjab, presents his written or sketched memos and personal reflections as well as notes and schematic solutions elaborated during meetings. The Album Punjab constitutes a primary source for reconstructing the topics addressed by the small team of architects and governmental officials who in only a few days developed the outlines of the Chandigarh plan.
The spiralbound notebook facsimile is accompanied by a paperback volume featuring previously unpublished photographs taken by Le Corbusier's cousin Pierre Jeanneret during this early expedition. Jeanneret documented the landscape and people that the architects encountered upon their arrival - a scenario destined to totally change with the birth of the great city. Otto Neurath's famous Modern Man in the Making, first published by Alfred A. Knopf in 1939, captures and describes the state of the world in the 1930s by using text and figurative illustrations. From 1925 onwards, Neurath and his team had worked on a new visual language termed "Isotype" (International System of Typographic Picture Education). At a time that saw the rise of new mass media making hitherto unthinkable amounts of information available, Neurath felt the need for a systematic visualization explaining facts, statistic data and comparative numbers in simple ways. The book can be seen as one of the most influential predecessors of today's ever-present infographics. The Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa (1919-2003) fused sensitivity for local context with the technological discoveries and design principles of modernism in his work. The Doldertal, a small valley in the north of the city of Zurich, is best known in the history of architecture as the residence of Swiss architectural theorist Sigfried Giedion, whose book «Space, Time and Architecture» (1941) is considered a landmark in the historiography of modernity. In 1936, Giedion commissions two houses designed by Alfred Roth and Marcel Breuer - known as the Doldertal Apartment Houses - which to this day remain among the most important works of Neues Bauen in Switzerland.
